VAT Relief is available to certain individuals in the United Kingdom, on selected products supplied by Lymphshop.
Products which are specifically designed to be used to relieve the symptoms of a chronic illness or disability qualify for VAT exemption under the VAT Act 1994 VAT Notice 701/7. Lymphoedema and Chronic Oedema are generally treated by the medical profession as long term chronic conditions.
How do I claim VAT relief?
To receive VAT relief on eligible Lymphshop products customers must Register for a Lymphshop account. The registration form will allow you to declare as eligible for VAT exemption. VAT will be only be deducted from eligible products in your basket after you have selected a UK delivery address at checkout - until then VAT will be displayed. Please note: VAT Exemption is not available for guest checkout.
When is VAT relief available?
- The person is “chronically sick or disabled” and
- The goods are eligible for VAT relief and
- The goods are purchased or acquired for their personal or domestic use
A person is “chronically sick or disabled if he/she is a person:
- With a physical or mental impairment which has long term and substantial adverse effect upon his/her ability to carry out everyday activities;
- With a condition which the medical profession treats as chronic sickness, such as diabetes, arthritis; or
- Registered disabled; or
- Who is terminally ill.
It does not include a frail elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb. If you are not sure if you qualify, please ask your medical advisor, as we are not able to give medical opinions.
